Formentera va fregar les 100 donacions de sang en la darrera sessi\u00f3.<\/strong><\/p>\n

El poeta Joan Maragall va resumir en poc m\u00e9s d’un vers del seu c\u00e8lebre poema ‘Oda a Espanya’ la import\u00e0ncia de la sang, aquest teixit l\u00edquid que recorre l’organisme i que transporta les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules imprescindibles per dur a terme funcions vitals com respirar o defensar-se d’agressions: “Dins de les venes – vida \u00e9s la sang, vida pels d’ara – i pels que vindran” i afegeix “vessada \u00e9s morta”. L’escriptor de la Renaixen\u00e7a, que mor\u00ed l’any 1911, mai pogu\u00e9 escriure “i donada \u00e9s viva”, perqu\u00e8 no fou fins als anys 20 i 30 del segle XX quan es popularitzaren les donacions de sang, arran del descobriment dels grups sanguinis que present\u00e0 el metge austr\u00edac Karl Landsteiner l’any 1909. Fins llavors les transfusions havien estat un camp conf\u00fas i poc segur marcat pel desastre de la primera donaci\u00f3 documentada, la realitzada el 1492 al Papa Innocenci VIII. Per guarir-lo d’un ictus, el seu metge personal va practicar-li, amb els m\u00e8todes rudimentaris de l’\u00e8poca, la transfusi\u00f3 de la sang de quatre adolescents. Les conseq\u00fc\u00e8ncies van ser fatals: el pont\u00edfex i els donants van morir.<\/p>\n

Segons la Fundaci\u00f3 Banc de Sang i Teixits de les Illes Balears, que organitza les sessions de donaci\u00f3 a Formentera, la quantitat de sang d’una persona adulta oscil\u00b7la entre els 4,5 i 6 litres, \u00e9s a dir, representa un 7% del pes corporal. Per cada donaci\u00f3, s’omple una bossa amb 450 mil\u00b7lilitres d’aquest l\u00edquid vital i la demanda di\u00e0ria a les Balears \u00e9s de 200 bosses, o sigui, 90 litres de sang per dia.<\/p>\n

“Nom\u00e9s est\u00e0s una estoneta espitjant una pilota i ajudes a altres persones”, explica na Sara, despr\u00e9s d\u2019assistir a un acte celebrat a l\u2019Hospital on ha estat homenatjada per haver participat en les donacions programades a Formentera en els darrers dos anys. Les dades de la Fundaci\u00f3 responen a na Sara: concretament s\u00f3n tres les persones a qui pots ajudar en una sola donaci\u00f3. Na Cristina, qui tampoc es perd cap de les sessions programades a l’Hospital de Formentera, ens parla d’una d’aquestes persones: “No hi ha cosa m\u00e9s bonica que donar una part de tu. Quan va n\u00e9ixer el meu fill, van haver de fer-li una transfusi\u00f3 de sang completa a Mallorca i si no hagu\u00e9s estat pels donants, l’hauria perdut”. La sang, que no es pot produir artificialment, com recorda la Fundaci\u00f3, va deixar rastre per sempre en la mem\u00f2ria d’un altre dels homenatjats, n’Emili: “Fa molts anys el meu germ\u00e0 va tenir un accident molt greu. Aquell dia feia mal temps i la llanxa ambul\u00e0ncia no podia fer-se a la mar, aix\u00ed que el van traslladar amb una barca de l\u00ednia. El recordo en una llitera quan el pujaven a bord. Tot el que eren els llen\u00e7ols i entre les cames era una bassa de sang”. Avui n’Emili i el seu germ\u00e0 poden anar a donar sang plegats i ho tenen ben f\u00e0cil, la pr\u00f2xima sessi\u00f3 est\u00e0 programada pel dilluns 26 de novembre a l\u2019Hospital de Formentera. Pot donar sang qualsevol persona d’entre 18 i 65 anys que pesi m\u00e9s de 50 quilos i gaudeixi de bona salut.<\/p>\n

En la darrera sessi\u00f3 a Formentera es realitzaren 114 oferiments, per\u00f2 per raons vinculades a la salut, finalment pogueren fer la donaci\u00f3 de sang un total de 96 persones. D’aquestes, 17 eren donants per primera vegada. M\u00e9s de 43 litres de sang enviats altruistament per salvar 288 vides.<\/p>\n
