Will you be traveling to Ibiza by car in the summer of 2025? Here’s what you need to know:

Starting June 1, 2025, Ibiza will implement a new regulation to control the entry and circulation of vehicles during the high season, which runs until September 30. The goal is clear: to reduce traffic congestion and protect the island’s natural environment, which every summer suffers under the weight of overwhelming mobility.

What’s changing this summer?

Get ready for a different Ibiza. Beginning in June, there will be strict limits on the number of vehicles allowed to enter the island each day:

A maximum of 16,000 rental vehicles.

Only 4,168 private tourist cars will be allowed to circulate per day.

And what about the costs?

To get around Ibiza during these dates, non-resident vehicles will have to pay a daily fee of 1 euro.
Rental companies, for their part, will face higher fees: between 100 and 1,500 euros, depending on the size of their fleet.

Do I need to request a permit?

Yes, if you plan to come with your own car, you will need to apply for prior authorization. All vehicles wishing to access the island between June 1 and September 30 are required to request it, with a few exceptions:

  • Ibiza residents with vehicles registered on the island.
  • Official and public services: ambulances, fire trucks, public transport, etc.
  • Goods transport vehicles, agricultural or construction machinery.

And good news! Motorcycles are exempt — at least for now.

Where do I apply for the permit?

Everything is managed through the official portal ibizacircular.es, available in Spanish, Catalan, and English. It’s simple, quick, and mandatory.

What happens if I enter without a permit?

Driving in Ibiza without authorization can be costly: fines can reach up to 1,000 euros. So it’s better not to risk it.

An important note if you already have a reservation

If you booked with a ferry company between January 1 and May 21, 2025, to bring your vehicle, there’s good news:
You won’t be subject to the daily limit or the one-euro fee, as long as the ferry company provides your license plate within the established deadline (10 days).

This summer, Ibiza wants to breathe a little easier. Fewer cars. Cleaner air. And more sustainable mobility for everyone.
If you’re bringing a vehicle, do it right: apply for your permit and avoid problems.
