How to get to Binibeca Vell

Binibeca is a town of white houses, cobbled streets reminiscent of fishing villages, simple and very quiet, it is located south of Mahón in Menorca, in the municipality of Sant Lluís, 50 km from Ciutadella, and 10 km from Mahón, is one of the most beautiful and touristic places on the island.

The way to get there, is from Mahón, it is located about 8 km from there. By car from Mahón, it will take about 15 minutes, you just have to follow the signs to Binibèquer Vell.

Parked the car around, if we continue in the direction of the promenade, there comes a time when we will find these little houses, and you can walk its streets.

We must not forget that they are inhabited properties and that during the tour, we will find posters of the Community of Owners of the Binibeca Vell:

Its white houses are unique. Its white color and its location, facing the sea, make this place unique. A place to get lost. It is made up of a total of 165 homes with almost 8.000m2 built.

Who built Binibeca?

A Menorcan surveyor, Antonio Sintes Mercadal with his architect friend, Francisco Juan Barba Corsini, began construction in 1964, it currently has 436 inhabitants.

What to see in Binibeca Vell

If you would like to visit it, the most interesting points in the area and one of the first to be built are:

The church of Binibeca, its main square and the promenade. And of course, its pier where you will see how the boats make this environment a postcard.

When is the best tiem to visit Binibeca?

We recommend visiting Binibeca outside the months of July and August. It is when more people visits it. The ideal is to take advantage of the spring months to walk its streets calmly without rushing and contemplate its unique architecture, its wooden balconies, respecting the calm of the place.

It is a white sand beach and transparent waters, surrounded by a pine forest. It is a very touristy beach where there is a beach bar.

In the back there is a pine forest with picnic tables, a perfect shade to eat something and rest.

Caló Fondo

From Binibequer Vell along the Camí de Cavall, near the Binibeca beach, we will find Caló Fondo or Ses Olles de Binissafúller, an ideal place to practice snorkeling. It is a rocky area, but very safe for bathing, delimited in summer where boats cannot be approached.

You can see fish species in these waters.

Cala Biniancolla

This cove has a small population enter of traditional houses, it belongs to Sant Lluís. Its waters are crystal clear, they are ideal for taking a bath, it is a very touristy and busy area in the summer months.

Binibeca restaurants

When it’s time to eat, in Binibeca you can go to some of the bars in its streets or in restaurants, and nearby on the promenade is Bambú Menorca, an Asian cuisine restaurant with incredible views of the sea

Or if you prefer, you can try the restaurant La Caraba, traditional cuisine, it is located on the road that goes from Sant Lluís to Binibeca, at the crossroads of the Camí a Torret.

If you want to try the local gastronomy, the El Faro restaurant, is specialized in rice dishes of all kinds, due to its location you will enjoy privileged views of the sea.

Take the opportunity to enjoy Menorcan cuisine, traditional dishes such as broad beans, baked artichokes, stuffed aubergines, tomatoes and baked potatoes, brou i bullit, caldereta de llagosta or the typical aiaigua with tomato that usually accompanies chips, tortillas, melón or figs.
