Ibiza – Formentera ferry timetable: first and last ferry, companies and seasons
There are ferries between Ibiza and Formentera all day long: in October more than 30 boats sail each way every day, from before 7 am until 11 pm. The crossing takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the boat. Here is how the timetables work, what changes with the season and how to choose the ferry that suits you best.

Ferry companies, boats and crossing times
Four companies run the Ibiza–Formentera route. They operate fast passenger-only boats, and some also have ferries that carry cars and motorbikes.
| Company | Boat | Crossing time | Cars and motorbikes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Formentera Lines | Formentera Lines Jet | 30 min | No |
| Trasmapi | Trasmapi Jet | 35 min | No |
| Trasmapi | Castaví Jet | 40 min | Yes |
| Baleària | Eco | 40 min | No |
| Baleària | Cap de Barbaria | 60 min | Yes |
| AquaBus | Eco Aire | 40 min | No |
If you travel with a vehicle, you can only choose the boats that carry them, so you will have fewer departures to pick from. In summer you also need an entry permit for your vehicle: see our guide to vehicle entry rules for Formentera and Ibiza.
How timetables change with the season
- Summer (June to September): the busiest time of year. Baleària alone schedules almost 30 daily departures from each port, and in the middle of the day ferries leave every few minutes.
- Spring and autumn: there is still plenty of choice. At the end of October there are more than 30 daily departures each way across all companies.
- Winter: there are fewer departures, especially early in the morning and at night, and some boats stop running. If you need the last ferry, check it in advance.
The wind has the final say: in a storm, the authorities can close the ports of Ibiza and La Savina and cancel sailings. Check the timetable on the day you travel.
Tips for choosing your ferry
- In a hurry? The fast boats take 30 to 35 minutes.
- Travelling with a car or motorbike? Only look at departures of boats that carry vehicles, and arrive at the port at least one hour before departure.
- Travelling in high season? Buy your ticket online: you skip the ticket office queue and secure a seat at the time you want.
- Coming from the airport? Allow about 20–30 minutes to reach the port. See your options in Formentera and Ibiza airport bus timetables and private door-to-door transfer.
- Not sure where the ferry leaves from? Almost all ferries to Formentera leave from the same terminal at the port of Ibiza: here is where it is.
Arriving at La Savina
All ferries arrive at the port of La Savina, Formentera’s only port. There you will find buses, taxis and car, scooter and bike hire. Many sailings connect with the island’s L1 and L2 bus lines. If you plan to explore the beaches, our smart guide to Formentera’s beaches will help.
