Which is the most beautiful lighthouse on Formentera?

The Lighthouse of La Mola, is one of the oldest lighthouses in Spain. It is located on top of a cliff at the highest point of Formentera. From there you can see Ibiza on the other side of the sea.

How big is the La Mola Lighthouse?

It is 22 meters high. It was built from 1859 to 1861, when it was put into service. The author of the project was Emilio Pou. The last lighthouse keeper who has lived inside this lighthouse is Javier Pérez de Arévalo, for twelve years.

How to get to the La Mola Lighthouse?

During all the way, you will see the lighthouse until the end of the road, where you can park you car or motrocycle.

It is a long route that starts in Sant Francesc Xavier and takes you to the town of El Pilar de la Mola, it takes 45 minutes by bike, and approximately 2 hours walking, the total distance is 9 km, the route is easy, on the road, you will pass by the Roman castellum of Can Blai, and by the beaches of Ses Platjetes in Es Caló de Sant Agustí and you will go up the old Roman path that reaches the Pilar de La Mola.

What to see near “El Faro de la Mola”

You cannot miss the hippie market of Pilar de la Mola, approximately 2,6 km from the Lighthouse, in the town, it is held two days a week, between the months of May and October, artist and artisans show local crafts.

The church of the Virgen del Pilar, dedicated to the island, surrounded by gardens and orchards; El Molí de Vell and Camí se Sa Pujada, the views are impressive all the way. Recommended that you bring comfortable
clothes and sports shoes as the road is dirt and stony.
