How long does it take to travel around Formentera by car?
By car you can cover Formentera in one day, as it is an island with about 69 kilometeres of coastline, but really if you want to enjoy the places that we propose you will need more time.
Its roads are in good condition and the journeys are not very long. From one end of the island to the other, there are 20 kilometers, approximately 40 minutes by car.

Caló d’es Mort
If you decide to go by car, among the many places you can visit, we recommend Es caló d’est Mort, it is an essential place that you should visit, to get to this cove park your car in the surroundings of the Hotel Riu la Mola, take the path that starts next to the Casa Blanca restaurant, about 10 minutes walking you will have reached this paradise.
The contrast of its turquoise and crystalline waters with the rock that surrounds it in reddish tones will make you unable to avoid taking out your camera, its two piers or traditional escars located on one side add a special charm to the environment.
If you continue along the same road, it is worth getting to the Mirador Restaurant and enjoying the panoramic views that Formentera offers, spectacular, do not miss them, you will have a photo of the north and south coasts, surrounded by vegetation.
Faro de la Mola
Finish your tour at the Faro de la Mola, you will understand why it receives so many visits. It is located on some cliffs, 120 meters above the sea. Inside it has a museum and cultural center, in the surroundings you can see a commemorative plaque of the writer Julio Verne for having set one of his novels “Hector Servadac” an adventure novel published in 1877, in this place.
This would be our recommendation in one day, if you have more time, do not hesitate to visit the island of Es Palmador, the Cap de Barbaria lighthouse, Cala Saona or Molí de la Mola.
And of course see a sunset in Formentera. Where to see the best sunset? In Cap de Barbaria Lighthouse. It is one of the three famous lighthouses, located at the Westside of Formentera. You can reach it by the road to Cala Saona from Sant Frances Xavier, but if you want to enjoy a quieter sunset, from its coves or beaches, for sure, you will find a good option.
